Traditional diesel buses incur high maintenance costs due to frequent mechanical wear and part replacement. While pure electric buses benefit from simplified powertrains, maintenance of motors, batteries, and control systems is still essential to ensure long-term operational reliability.
Pure electric city buses employ permanent magnet synchronous motors, modular battery packs, and intelligent monitoring systems to reduce mechanical wear and fault risk. Single motors (180–250kW) have maintenance-free lifespans of up to 100,000 km. Modular battery packs allow cell-level replacement and periodic inspection. CAN-bus systems monitor motor temperature, battery voltage, and charge-discharge status in real time to provide early warnings of potential issues.
Battery thermal management maintains 15–35°C for optimal cycle life, while motor cooling ensures continuous operation below 90°C. Combined with standardized inspections and modular maintenance, annual maintenance costs are significantly lower than traditional diesel buses.
High-reliability motors, modular batteries, and intelligent monitoring allow pure electric city buses to reduce maintenance costs while enhancing operational stability and reliability, providing urban public transit operators with an economical, reliable, and sustainable solution.
